MetaCometa: In the Footsteps of Don Bosco

The MetaCometa project draws its inspiration, style and operational models directly from the legacy of St. John Bosco. His personal experience and pedagogical approach are the beating heart of our mission.

Don Bosco, himself an orphan, transformed his personal experience into an extraordinary vocation of spiritual fatherhood. He lived the experience of fostering with the Moglia family in Chieri, and this direct experience led him to a profound understanding of the value of a welcoming family. When he began his work, he understood that boys needed not only a father figure but also a motherly presence. For this he called his mother, Mother Margaret, giving birth to the first real experience of a welcoming family.

We follow Don Bosco’s preventive system, which is based on a fundamental principle: identifying and valuing the “point accessible to good” present in every young person. As he himself taught us, this point can become the lever for personal redemption.

"You Are Important to Me."

This expression, which encapsulates the essence of Don Bosco’s loving-kindness, is central to our model of intervention. As Don Paolo Albera, Don Bosco’s second successor, testified: *”He favored us in a unique way, all his own…I felt I was loved in a way I had never felt before. “* Don Bosco had the extraordinary gift of making every young person feel like “the favorite,” loved in a unique and personal way.

The strength of this approach is still reflected in our activities today. As evidenced by the story of one of our young men who spontaneously said, “I will be called Johao Bosco from now on”-a statement that shows how Don Bosco’s legacy continues to touch the hearts of young people.

Our mission is to be, like Don Bosco, points of reference for the young people entrusted to us, offering them not only support but also that peculiar form of educational love that characterized his work.
