Welcoming mothers and children

Metacometa has 5 active mother-child nucleus care and protection services:

3
nuclei at Don Bosco House in Osimo (AN)
2
nuclei at Casa Nazareth in Viagrande (CT).
1
core at Ragusa's Mamma Grazia Courtyard.

The mother-child shelter was created to respond to the need for shelter, protection and protection of single-parent households, i.e., composed of a single parent with one or more children, who experience situations marked by mistreatment or strong distress (economic, social, relational,…) and are reported by the Social Service.

Since these situations are characterized by extreme fragility, the accompaniment of specialized personnel on a path toward autonomy that allows the recovery of parental resources and ensures adequate educational support for minors is provided. The goal is to create the most suitable conditions for the parent to recover self-confidence and relationship with their children, reactivating or acquiring the necessary tools for building an independent life project. For these reasons, the reception (lasting up to 12 months), is designed by encouraging the autonomy of the nucleus by providing independent housing that the nucleus lives in and manages as its “own home.”

The home is located within Metacometa’s solidarity and hospitality villages (Osimo, Viagrande and Ragusa, the latter being launched), where other volunteer families from the Metacometa network live. The accepted household thus has the opportunity to share part of its daily routine with other families, fostering cooperation and mutual support in the spirit of “good neighborly” relationships.
