Having concluded the experience of the squares, having heard from so many of you, I feel it is important in the meantime to thank you from the bottom of my heart for your immense , festive and generous contribution to the cause. It was an experience of great ferment, marking, in my opinion, a milestone in the Metacometa journey toward its future:
1. we felt like a caravan. , from Udine to Marzamemi, from Turin to Ibla, Together , in unison, a chorus of encounters, of testimonies, of labors and encouragement…Even tiring exchanges, suspicious denials, distracted glances. We braved the anonymous square, inconvenienced people in their daily routines ( cf. shopping malls!), introduced ourselves to some parish communities, We proudly wore the Metacometa bib we gave away pencils and exchanged four meaningful chats with thousands of people…We all had experiences and encounters that we would like to recount and remember with pleasure. We have been together and teamed up. We met volunteers and invited people…Knowing that there are so many of us, all committed and involved, surely marks the first step of truly “national” association life.
2.Many seeds planted waiting to bloom… 54 new families these days started the in-training paths on foster care, We are happily forced to divide the accessions into three groups, with equal participation from the various territories.
3.New regions are entering the metacometa world. after the experience of the squares: Abruzzo (Vasto with the adhesion of 7 families!), Lazio, Piedmont, Campania… We shall see, if they are “seeds of forget-me-nots” they will blossom… On this occasion, interlocutions with Services and Institutions have been consolidated or initiated (Florence, Turin, Ancona, Udine, Messina…) that seem to me encouraging.
We will soon understand from our “first time” in the square what to change or improve; but I believe that, thanks to those who organized and coordinated, thanks to all of you who put your faces and hearts into it, we file, for this year, the experience of “Metacometa in the Square” as a great opportunity.
