The assembly of any association is always a delicate time, which has to fulfill bureaucratic principles laid down in statutes and regulations, but especially for the vitality of the association it can be a time for reflection and revitalization of activities.
In MetaCometa over the past year we have been striving to make this second fundamental part of the assembly moment worthwhile above all: a convocation that is an opportunity to reflect on the path taken and to relaunch of the associative proposal with new goals, reinvigorated momentum, renewed organization.
A year ago, the assembly decided to renew the term of office of the current board for one year only in order to put in place the path we have experienced so far and so arrive prepared for this moment that becomes foundational for our future.
A new form of organization has been given by putting together the technical aspects necessary for a growing organization and the charismatic aspects that are essential so as not to lose the reference to the roots and motivations that sustain all our initiatives; thought has been given to balancing these two aspects as in a growing body where all organs must grow harmoniously. Hence the birth of the national coordination with the various sector leaders, the empowerment of the zonal animators, all assisted by a directive that will be responsible for giving the guidelines so that the balance is not lost.
A milestone in this journey was the three days experienced together in September in Soverato, where we were able to discuss the many aspects of the new set-up and the paths that individuals and groups will have to take in order to respond to the great goal of meeting the needs of the youngest in the specifics of MetaCometa. It was also an opportunity to team up, get to know each other and imagine growing together within this family of families that stretches from Etna to the Alps.
Throughout the year each initiative to celebrate the first 25 years of our association was an opportunity to relaunch activities and gather proposals, to identify “legs” to carry out the projects that the territories need and the willingness to be part of the MetaCometa caravan as protagonists.
The many opportunities for discussion provided an opportunity to listen to the voices present in the association, to recalibrate the focus, and led to the identification of candidates, criteria and ways to elect the new board.
So here we are at the Messina stage.
A city that evokes the significant choice to make this anniversary bear fruit: an area where the MetaCometa group has only been present for a few months, in which we want to give momentum to this presence through the involvement of family foster care technicians: court, psychologists, lawyers, social workers convened for a conference on supportive families and the MetaCometa model; having members from all over Italy convene for the elective assembly moment of the new board. Without missing the moments of celebration with the unfailing “Welcome Life” with our young people artistically telling us about their experiences, Silvia Frasson’s play “The Best Version of Me” and the music of the regenerated Diapason.
The journey made up of many small steps has already borne some fruit: from the awareness of who we are, what we are and where we are headed; to the pride of being increasingly at the service of the little ones and families in so many ways.
All this because we believed and strongly believe that the time of the assembly should be experienced as an important time for our association, in which we renew ourselves to continue our mission in step with new challenges, with the knowledge that we have grown
We hand over this “work” of ours to the Lord of Life, who calls us to live out our call to serve the little ones. Praying that we may catch His signs to keep us on the right path. To Him we offer the commitment of when carried out and we entrust our hopes for the future so that the next 25 years may be more and more a testimony of His Love.
